“The Christchild Lullaby” is an English version of the Gaelic carol, Taladh Criosda, by Father Ranald Rankin of Barra. It’s not so difficult, though the bass part can be a little high. Practice it until you know it, then record, please.

CHRISTCHILD LULLABY PARTS & BACKING TRACKS
Please record your part over the Backing Track for your voice part. You will hear one bar of your starting note, then a 1, 2, 3 count in. Sing the 1,2,3 count-in on your starting note. Accurate timing, please. It gets you in tune and helps me to synchronize the part.

BACKING TRACKS & VOICE PARTS
In the SOPRANO part, the SOLO will be sung by Lydia. Everyone else, just sing the CORO parts, please. Apart from Lydia, you will all have some quite long pauses. I suggest you do it as one take, and just count through the pauses. It’s fine if you count out loud, or sing your note to pitch it before you come in. I will cut out all the unnecessary stuff in the mix.
Please observe the dynamics even if your backing track seems louder. It is a guide, but don’t imitate its dynamics.
NB For a more live sound, there are many small fluctuations of tempo in the backing track. It’s not too hard. Just keep an ear out for the click track.
Remember, if you notice any difference between the backing track and the score, follow the score.
